- Tai Chi is a slow, meditative, graceful martial art that is practiced by people all over the world. Some call it meditation in motion. You may have seen whole groups practicing it in parks in China or other parts of the world. It is comprised of movement patterns which connect the mind and the body, making it perfect activity to manage Parkinson's
- It is has been proven in research studies to be better than normal exercise programs in decreasing falls and improving balance in people with Parkinsons ( February 09. 2012. New England Journal of Medicine)
- It has a meditative, calming effect on anxiety and depression
- One of its strengths is its practice in a group setting where people can meet, encourage one another.
- Tai Chi works well to manage many motor challenges which Parkinson's presents: Balance, Range of motion, dual tasking, and motor control.
- It also helps to to manage its nonmotor symptoms: loneliness, anxiety, depression
- Neurorev PT and Wellness will adapt standard Tai Chi forms to enable people with PD to be challenged, grow and strengthen themselves
